Determine the volume of oil necessary to fill the work cylinder when at full stroke. This can be determined by multiplying the piston area by the stroke length. 2. Next, select the bore and tank length from Chart 25-2 which is equal to or greater than the volume determined in step 1. NOTE: Smaller bore sizes with longer lengths are generally more economical than larger bores with shorter lengths.
